Pizza Cook

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Are you interested in learning how to cook? The Pizza Cook is a great place to begin as you get the opportunity to prepare a wide variety of pizza and pasta under the tutelage of the Pizza Cook, Lead Cook and Culinary Operations Manager. You will also have the chance to learn about consistent recipe adherence, proper prep methods, service wear, ingredients and portion size in a fun, fast-paced environment. Other responsibilities will include serving food, restocking station supplies, and other tasks as assigned. This is a great opportunity to work in the newly remodeled UC Dining Hall and to get a first-hand look at the new, cool pizza oven.

Host

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Are you passionate about giving great customer service? This is the position for you, because the Host helps to maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. Your responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining the service area, prepping food items for use in the student self-serve area, serving food, restocking station supplies, and cleaning the seating area. As a Host, you are providing guests with the most important impression of Dining Services by keeping the service are sparkling clean and stocked. We want your smiling face and your organizational skills to represent Dining Services to the PLU community.

Line Cook

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Join us as a Line Cook and you’ll find yourself working at the Deli Station preparing deli items and soup. What a great opportunity to learn some basic skills under the tutelage of the Deli Station Cook, the Lead Cook and the Culinary Operations Manager. You will also have the chance to learn about consistent recipe adherence, proper prep methods, service wear, ingredients and portion size in a fun, fast-paced environment. Other responsibilities will include serving food, restocking station supplies, and other tasks as assigned. Be a part of the first team to work in the newly remodeled UC Dining Hall and to get a close up look at how the new servery operates.

Server

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Do you love to interact with people? If so, come and join our new team as a Server where you have the chance to maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. Servers will work at Crave—the grill station, Aglio—the pizza & pasta station, and at Cross Cultures—our ethnic food station, you will sign up for a primary schedule and will be trained to work at all stations. Some of your responsibilities will include assisting the line cook with food service, restocking station supplies and other tasks as assigned. A server is also a key player in the sustainability mission for Dining Services as you will support recycling, composting, garbage disposal and keeping your assigned line station clean and sanitary. Come on in as a part of the first team to work in the brand new UC Dining Hall and explore how the new stations work from the inside out.

Prep Cook

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Do you want to get hands-on with the food? This is the place because as a student Prep Cook, you are integral to the successful operation of each of the stations in the Dining Hall: Crave (the grill station), Aglio (the pizza & pasta station), Cross Cultures (ethnic food station) and the Deli. Some of your responsibilities will include prepping food for service on your assigned line station under the guidance of your station line cook, serving food, restocking station supplies and other duties as needed. You will learn from your student manager, line cook, lead cook & Culinary Operations Manager about consistent recipe adherence, proper prep methods, service ware, ingredients and portion size. You’ll sign up for a primary schedule and will be trained to work at all stations. Get in first to get your choice of which station you prefer.

Cashier/Barista

Starting wage is $8.50 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

If you love people & coffee, this is the place for you. As a Barista/Cashier, you’ll get the chance to create a varied mix of coffee and non-coffee drinks and to put on display your courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service skills. You will have a ton of charisma that will shine out from behind the counter as you engage customers and encourage them to have coffee and a snack. Some of your responsibilities will include ringing up guest meals, restocking station supplies and setting the register for the Senior Office Assistant as well as adhering to the Pierce County Health Department rules & regulations. The Barista/Cashier position will work at the Convenience Store, Library espresso cart, Hauge espresso cart, Kelley Café at Morken and The Bistro. Some of the skills you will learn are cash register operation, espresso techniques, register accountability, service wear and portion size.

Cashier

Starting wage is $8.50 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Are you an efficient worker and a people person? The Cashier is the face of Dining Services who engages every person that passes through the service lines and maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. You will be working in the UC Dining Hall during breakfast and lunch periods where food will be purchased on an a la carte, item by item, basis and during dinners where students purchase all they care to eat with the swipe of a card. You will learn from your student manager, cook staff and management staff about cash register operation, register accountability, service wear, and portion size. If you love a fast-paced environment where you get to interact with a lot of people, we want you to be one of our cashiers.

Deli Prep

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Do you want to get hands-on with the food? This is the place because as Deli Prep, you are integral to the successful operation of the Dining Hall. You will be working with the staff Cold Prep person to make sandwiches, prep food for the salad bar and set up/stock the salad bar. Some of your responsibilities will include preparing the salad bar in accordance with recipes and your station line cook’s guidance, prepping food items for use in the student self-serve area, serving food, restocking station supplies, and other tasks as assigned. If you like to be in the kitchen and have a passion for hands-on food work, we are looking for you to fill the Deli Prep position for Fall.

Catering Server

Starting wage is $8.00 per hour with a maximum time commitment of 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes. Shifts available 7 days a week 7am-8pm

Do you have a passion for making people happy? You just might be the next best Catering Server to work in Dining Services. Catering Servers are hard-working individuals who love to interact with their team and their guests. You will find yourself making and displaying a coffee service for 10 one day and serving at an event for 300 the next. Some of your responsibilities will include serving food, prepping food products, delivering food and setting up events.
