A
digital portfolio giving evidence of competence of five
core
values defined by the School of Education
at Pacific Lutheran University.
"The
most important attitude that can be formed
is that of desire to go on learning."
-John Dewey
Welcome!
My professional portfolio documents my learning, growth,
and achievement as an educator. It is a synthesis of the
theoretical and practical applications of my course work
and demonstrates my ability to think independently, generalize
from my studies, and make appropriate applications from
the educational research to my professional life.
The
conceptual framework used is grounded in Pacific Lutheran
University’s School of Education Master of Arts with
Certification program’s five core values: collaboration,
differences, inquiry,
integration, and leadership.
The
pages of the portfolio give evidence to my understanding
of these core values and demonstrate my ability to integrate
each of the values into both my educational and teaching
experience. Within each core value, you will find a brief
introduction detailing what that core value means to me.
This will be followed by relevant artifacts clearly documenting
my competence and effectiveness as an educator in each of
the core values including links to thesis, papers and projects,
lesson plans and units developed, student work samples,
interviews, photographs, and a video clip. Additionally
comprehensive impact
statements, referenced and supported, will clearly describe
my beliefs, philosophy, knowledge, and skills in each core
value. Finally a link to why the value is included as a
core value for Pacific Lutheran University’s Masters
of Arts with Certification program.
This
program provided me with experiences to master knowledge,
develop skills, and cultivate habits of heart and mind to
enable me to provide my students with excellent opportunities
to learn and develop. As a reflective practitioner, I believe
I have developed the attitudes and skills necessary for
on-going inquiry that will help identify issues related
to the purposes and practices of my work. I also believe
I have developed leadership and instructional skills in
areas of collaboration, integration, and assessment, as
well as decision-making skills in curriculum based on content,
skills, and personal development.
As
I continue to learn and gain experience, I will grow and
change as an educator in my pursuit of excellence, improvement
of my teaching skills, and personal commitment to my students,
and dedication to life-long learning.
It is my hope that this portfolio provides a coherent, complete,
professional quality of my ability to demonstrate clear
analytical and evaluative thinking supported by current
educational research and theory and documents mastery of
the programs’ five core values. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Randa
