What I have Learned About Myself |
|||||
Strengths During my four years of college, I have uncovered and developed some key strengths that I will carry with me in the future. My first strength lies in my ability to lead. Throughout my college career, team projects and presentations have been important elements in almost all of the courses I have taken. I feel that I naturally evolved as the leader in most , if not all, of these teams; showing initiative and the ability to help produce beneficial outcomes. I feel that I have the ability to motivate others and bring about a positive working environment. Another strength I have developed during college is the ability to multi-task. College can be very stressful at times. It seems as though every professor assigns a project, paper, or exam at the same time; leaving us with a multitude of tasks to complete in a short period of time. I feel that I have successfully been able to overcome the stress and effectively organize everything going on in my life. No matter what life throws at me, I know that I will complete every task to the best of my ability. Opportunities and ChallengesNow that I am preparing to graduate from Pacific Lutheran University, I feel that there are several opportunities in my future. The Seattle-Tacoma area holds an immense amount of business opportunities. I have already begun my search a career, with a few options already on the table for me. Over the next few months I will continue to weigh different options to determine which opportunities fit me the best. Though there are a plethora of opportunities for me, I know that there will be challenges to overcome as well. I think one of the biggest challenges will be setting myself apart from the thousands of other recent college graduates fighting for the same career opportunities. Due to the looming recession, people have been losing their jobs left and right. Finding a career when there are a shortage of job openings will definitely be a challenge, but it is a challenge I am ready and willing to face. |
Weaknesses Though I feel I possess several strengths that are necessary for success in the business world, college has also made me aware of areas of weakness. Though I am the type of person that is determined to complete every task handed to me, I know that at times I have the tendency to procrastinate. I work best under pressure. When time is limited and deadlines are approaching I am able to produce high quality results. Though I have been able to get away with procrastination in the past, I know that it is something I need to work on. Another potential weakness of mine is that when I work in teams I tend to take on the bulk of the work on my own. If I have team members that are satisfied with producing average work, I will usually improve their work myself instead of asking them to go further. I rely to much on myself and need to have more confidence in my teammates. "Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision. But a today well-lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope." - Unknown |
