late Anthony Boucher (William Anthony Parker White), well-known
writer, critic, and fan of the mystery genre. The award is usually in
the form of a dagger stabbing a black book, with "Anthony Award"
written in black on the resultant bloodstain, all mounted on a
wooden plaque engraved with the winner's name, year, and
winning title. The dagger is removable to be used as a letter
opener.
