The University Event Calendar
The university PLUcalendar
is printed on the PLU home page within the "calendars" category. It is
maintained by Conferences & Events, and events may be listed on the calendar
by request. With all the events that occur at PLU each day, we are unable
to list every event on the calendar. If you would like to make sure your
event is listed, please advise our office or click the appropriate tab
on the online request form.
When planning your event, it's a good idea to look at the calendar to
see what other events are occurring around your proposed event. If there
are numerous events scheduled at the same time as your proposed event,
both audience and facility availability may be limited. If you have any
questions, be sure to ask the Scheduling Coordinator.
Outdoor BBQ's
PLU has limited outdoor BBQ equipment. Therefore, if you are planning
an event which involves the use of our catering services and a BBQ, please
schedule as far in advance as possible. BBQ use is scheduled through Dining
Services at (253) 535-7472.
Dances
Consistent with Residential Life and Student Life campus dance policy,
planners must schedule their dance through Conferences & Events for any
location on campus that is not a residence hall space. Adequate staffing
must be made available to oversee the event and to assist with any emergency
issues. Campus Safety must be notified, and the sponsoring group may be
required to provide on-site Pierce County Sheriff personnel.
Damage
The sponsoring group of any event where damage to facility or equipment
occurs will be held financially responsible for repair/replacement. The
account for the sponsoring group will be charged the applicable rate.
Merchandising/Vendor Sales
Because PLU is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State
of Washington, it is exempted from property tax. Therefore, PLU is not
allowed to use its properties for commercial activities. Vendor sales
must be connected to a fund raising activity limited to less than five
days in length. Also, 51% of the profits realized from any vendor sales
must go to a nonprofit organization. Violation of this regulation will
jeopardize the university's property tax exemption. [WAC 458-16-165]
Event Setup/Equipment - Tables & Chairs
The following policies apply to requesting tables and/or chairs:
- At least one week's notice is required for a table/chair request.
Please order tables/chairs as soon as possible. Requests are satisfied
on a first come, first serve basis.
- You may submit an online
form or turn in an event request to our office.
- Only warehouse tables and chairs may be used in venues other than
the University Center. The University Center's inventory will not be
used to support events in other venues due to 'transportation' damage
and building support service requirements.
- Delivery of chairs/tables will not be made to off campus locations,
including PLU owned houses.
- In the case that the inventory of warehouse tables/chairs does not
meet the request for the event, the sponsor of the event should contact
a rental company and arrange all billing through that company.
- The following companies offer rental service:
- PLU tables/chairs may not be rented or borrowed for personal use.
