Merit-Based Awards


Regents' Scholarship


Eligibility:
Awarded to freshmen in recognition of outstanding academic achievement, leadership and service. Students that meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply: 3.8 GPA and/or 1250 SAT (critical reading and math only) or 28 ACT. All scholarship and admission materials must be submitted by December 13 to be considered. Interview required. Selected students will be asked to campus for an interview.

Amount: Full tuition, renewable for three additional years of undergraduate study.


President's Scholarship


Eligibility:
Same as Regents' Scholarships. All scholarship and admission materials must be submitted by December 13 to be considered. Entering freshmen 2005-2006.

Amount:

$13,000 year one
$13,500 year two
$14,000 year three
$14,500 year four


PLU Academic Scholarship


Eligibility:
Awarded to freshmen and transfer students who have demonstrated strong academic success.

Amount: Varies.

Comments or Conditions: No application required. Renewable for up to three years of undergraduate study.


National Merit Scholarship


Eligibility: National Merit finalist, as determined by results of the PSAT-NMSQT (preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) competition.

Amount: Winners of a PLU-sponsored National Merit Scholarship will receive scholarship and grant assistance (from all sources) that ranges from one-half to full tuition per year and is renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study.

Comments or Conditions: Finalists must list PLU as their first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.


Washington Scholar's Award


Eligibility:
Washington State Scholar

Amount: Varies subject to state legislative adjustment.

Comments or Conditions: Renewable for three years if a 3.30 GPA is maintained. The Washington Scholar's Program honors three graduating high school seniors from each legislative district every year.


Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship


Eligibility: All transfer students who are active members of Phi Theta Kappa at the time of application.

Amount: $1,000 - $2,500 per year (renewable for undergraduate study only)

Number: Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Awarding: Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships may be awarded in addition to an Academic Merit Awards described below.
PTK scholarships may not be added to Provost’s Scholarships.

Application: Students must indicate PTK membership on the PLUapplication for admission. No other application is
required.


Artistic Achievement Award


Eligibility:
Exceptional ability in the fields of art, dance, theatre, forensics, and music.

Amount: Varies.

Comments or Conditions: Awarded by faculty recommendation. Renewable on the basis of faculty recommendation and participation. You must contact the department representative directly for application and audition requirements.

Rieke Leadership Award


Eligibility:
Students with a 3.00+ GPA and demonstrated leadership or active involvement in a multi-ethnic context.

Amount: Up to $2,000 per year.

Comments or Conditions: Requires application; deadline March 1. Applications available through the Office of Admissions. Requires reapplication to be renewed each year.


Army ROTC Scholarship


Eligibility:
Full-time undergraduates.

Amount: Up to full tuition, room/meals.

Comments or Conditions: Must file FAFSA. Call PLU's ROTC office for further information, 253-535-8740.
