Welcome! This portfolio demonstrates my development as a professional nurse in the BSN program at Pacific Lutheran University.
"Our doubts are traitors, and make us loose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt." - William Shakespeare
ABOUT ME...
My name is Tina Fajardo, born in Germany, and due to my father's military status, lived in several different states and countries. I consider myself incredibly blessed to find myself at Pacific Lutheran University in pursuit of entering the nursing profession. Before pursuing this profession, I had imagined myself doing a variety of work, and knowing very little about nursing, assumed that it would be too specialized and misaligned with my personality and character. This misunderstanding was quickly transformed as the thought of nursing became reiterated and my curiosity and heart for it grew. So far, I have been excited, curious, and challenged in ways I never imagined... and I know that it is only just the beginning.
WHY NURSING?Nursing is one way that an individual can serve another human being in a holistic way. I believe nurses are people who in one (of many) ways can show their appreciation of the gift of life through service. To me, a nurse is caring, compassionate,
selfless, and hopeful. These are all traits of a person I hope to
provide to all people I have the opportunity to care for. The opportunity that a nurse has each day to genuinely care for others is honorable, respected, and priceless.
