Help us identify the best in Washington family business for 2009 awards.

You are invited to nominate one or more family business firms to be considered for the 2009 Washington Family Business of the Year Awards in the following categories:

  • Small Business (under 50 employees)
  • Medium Business (50-250 employees)
  • Large Business (more than 250 employees)
  • New Business (less than 10 years)
  • Heritage Business (more than 50 years)

Rules

  • A firm may be nominated by anyone, including employees and business associates. Self-nominations are encouraged.
  • All family business headquartered in Washington are eligible, except for prior winners.
  • All nominations must be received by August 15, 2009. Nominees will be invited to complete a formal application for the awards.
  • Nominations remain active for three years.

The Award Criteria Are:

  • Innovative business strategies and practices
  • Planning for succession
  • Expressing family values in the business
  • Family-business linkage
  • Contributions to the community and industry
  • Number of generations involved (except for new firms)
  • Business performance (growth and viabilty)

Nominees will be invited to submit a formal application for the awards. Applications will be judged by a panel of family business owners, service providers, and experts.
The purpose of the Washington Family Business Awards is to:
  • Recognize and honor the best in family business
  • Educate family business leaders in changing issues related to family enterprise
  • Help preserve and promote family enterprise within the Pacific Northwest
  • Encourage family business owners to preserve their history and plan for the future
