Ethics

As a core advantage to a liberal education, most of my classes discussed issues regarding ethics in the workplace.  I value my time spent learning about ethical practices and sustainability in our communities and our world.

Taken as an excerpt from an essay I wrote in my Business Ethics course:

"My personal ethical philosophy comes from all areas of my life. It comes from talks with my family, growing up with my friends, my beliefs on religion, and from my own experiences.  Everyday, my personal beliefs on what is ethical are shaped.  Not everyone possesses these same beliefs, but I gauge my morality on being a good person and making the right decisions when times are tough and my ethics are in question.  No one ever said what is right is the easiest choice to make. This was learned early on, when on my fourth grade classroom bulletin board was a framed poster that stated, “What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular.”  These choices are all around us, whether the question is asking the ethics of abortion or if an employee should overlook ethics for monetary gain."
