Defining Statement:
“Develop Your Total Self.”
Organizational Principles:
“Gonzaga embodies the intellectual powers of five undergraduate schools offering eight degrees in 92 fields of study. The original College of Arts and Sciences is joined by the School of Business Administration, the School of Education, the School of Engineering, and the School of Professional Studies. The University also offers degrees in 20 master's programs, one Ph.D., and a Juris Doctor through the Gonzaga University School of Law.
The academic heart of Gonzaga's liberal arts tradition lies in its core curriculum, which integrates philosophy, theology, history, mathematics, literature, natural and social sciences, and extensive writing in students' major disciplines.
Students are challenged at Gonzaga – academically, intellectually, spiritually, even physically. Students develop their total self, and love who they become.”
“At Gonzaga, all undergraduate students follow a common program designed to complete their education in those areas which the University considers essential for a liberal and humanistic education as well as a more specialized program of the student's own choosing. The University Core Curriculum consists of thirty-one semester credits. Individual schools and college also have core curricula of their own which compliment the University's Core.”
“The core curriculum or common body of knowledge of the College of Arts and Sciences consists of fifty-nine to sixty-two credits which are common to and required of all degree programs in the College: the first thirty-one credits (of which there is a more complete description in the General Degree Requirements and Procedures section of the undergraduate catalogue) form the University Core, while the remaining twenty-eight to thrity-one credits are common to all Arts and Sciences degrees.”
