Graduate Programs

FAQ

Q.When should I apply?

A.Each graduate program has specific application priority dates. Please check with each program individually to make sure that you submit your paperwork in time to meet those dates.

Q. I’d like to sit in a class or talk with a professor, is this possible?

A. Yes, the advisors in each graduate program can coordinate a class visit or a schedule a conversation with a faculty member to help you decide if PLU is the right place for you.

Q. How is parking?  Will I need to buy a parking pass?

A.If your classes are held during the day (8a.m.-5p.m.) you will want to get a free parking pass through Campus Safety.  Parking in designated lots is generally easy.  If your classes are held in the evenings or on Saturdays you do not need a pass and can park in any designated lot.  Campus Safety does not ticket after 5 p.m. nor on weekends.

Q. It will be difficult for me to be on campus during the day.  Are campus services available outside traditional hours?

A. Many offices around campus do have non-traditional hours.  For example, Student Services remains open until 6pm Mon-Thurs and the Campus Concierge is open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon-Fri and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays.  The Bookstore also has extended hours at the start of each term to accommodate students who arrive on campus after 5 p.m.  Other offices accommodate special circumstances by request and often have a night-drop box.

Q.Where and when do I pick up my ID card?

A.You can pick up your ID card from the Campus Concierge desk in the University Center prior to the term you are starting.  You must be enrolled in a course before you get an ID card.

Q. I’m concerned about paying for my graduate coursework, is there someone I can talk with?

A. Yes, there are financial aid counselors that are available to answer your questions about paying for graduate school.  All you need to do is call 253-535-7134 and ask to talk with a financial aid counselor.  Be sure to identify yourself as a graduate student when calling.
