General Description
Manage, organize and coordinate all on-air and on-line production for KPLU and Jazz24’s programming, Traffic, Development and Promotions departments. In addition, the Production Manager will work with the Public Radio Partners on all underwriting activities. The material produced by the Production Director is central in creating the overall sound of KPLU and Jazz24. Reports to the Assistant General Manager.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Business Support: Includes producing, assigning, and coordinating all production which includes underwriting, banner ads and gateway announcements.
- Creative Production: Includes writing, voicing and producing show promos, image spots, fundraising messages, station event spots and web activity messages. Collaborates with various staff members and departments on each department’s production needs.
- Coordinate NPR funding credits, promos and network show feeds.
- Host Jazz24 by voice tracking a weekend show.
- Host and produce live performances and as post-production editor for providing content on kplu.org and nprmusic.org.
- Develop on-air and online content for KPLU, Jazz24, and NPR including Q&A and music lists.
- Understands and supports the role of KPLU within the University and actively participates in university activities.
- Understands and supports the KPLU Mission Statement, the KPLU Principles and Values Statement and KPLU’s Long Range Plans.
- Serve as an on-air and on-line fill-in host.
- Emcee at station events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be highly motivated and creative, a team player with attention to details, and the ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to work with a variety of people and departments.
- Proficient in using a variety of standard broadcast and production equipment including Audiovault and Adobe Audition.
- Must have the ability to track multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit effective promos and short-form material for broadcast and online.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years experience in broadcasting is required, with a minimum of three years experience in broadcast production, writing, editing or hosting.
- High School Diploma/GED. A Bachelors degree is preferred.
- This position requires AFTRA membership.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
