General Description
Advises students on study away options; coordinates international internships; coordinates, implements and supports the ‘Returner Reflections’ program, and gives leadership to the Wang Center website. Reports to Executive Director.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Advise students regarding options for study away, particularly semester and year-long opportunities, serving as the principal liaison to Third-Party Provider/Consortium programs.
- Work with the Executive Director on the design, coordination, and implementation of an academic international internship program, including liaison with PLU faculty and overseas internship supervisors, program budget, and program assessment.
- Work closely with the in-country coordinators to secure housing for all students participating in the international internship program, to complete the visa process, and to insure that an academic context course is in place specific to the country or region of the internship.
- Work with Assistant Director to implement study away procedures and PLU policies.
- Coordinate and implement an established program for students returning from study away.
- Help develop content and assist in maintaining the Wang Center website.
- Advise graduating seniors about volunteer opportunities and working abroad; promote these options (including website content), and coordinate with providers of these opportunities.
- Serve as point person for welcoming and guiding logistics related to visiting scholars.
- Serve as advising resource for questions/concerns regarding study away, including individual and group meetings, conducting Study Away 101 sessions, make classroom visits and participate in Student Fairs.
- Coordinate between students and Wang Center team all registrations, payments, applications processing and programmatic paperwork.
- Promote campus-wide global education activities, especially study away.
- Other duties as needed and/or assigned.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; listening and interpretive skills.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, including ability to travel if called upon.
- Website development and/or management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software and other programs.
Required Qualifications
- Two years experience in study away advising or related experience/education.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working with US undergraduate students and faculty.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience overseas and/or foreign language proficiency.
