Work Schedule
Part Time: Approximately 3-4 days per week, with minimum of one Saturday/month.
32 hours/week (to include after hour telephone on-call).
General Description
FNP position in an ARNP-based academic community health clinic. Serves as a primary care provider, clinical leader and preceptor for ARNP students in a clinic focused toward under-served and at-risk populations. Provides full scope primary care for all age groups.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Performs systemic and clinically appropriate assessments for clients of all ages from infancy through older adults.
- Documents assessment and follow-up information in a clear, concise and timely manner.
- Conducts clinical practice so that client privacy and confidentiality are maintained.
- Performs health promotions and screening services.
- Evaluates laboratory, radiology and consultation reports for needed follow-up and/or action.
- Performs effective telephone consultation for client concerns/issues.
- Assesses for cultural language and socioeconomic impact on health behaviors.
- Evaluates learning needs of the client.
- Maintains awareness of client resources when planning care.
- Provides clinical care that is consistent with accepted community
primary care standards of care and supported by clinical evidence.
- Collects laboratory specimens via phlebotomy, swab and other means.
- Coordinates care with support personnel to facilitate efficient client flow through clinic.
- Supervises clinical care provided by support staff and students.
- Actively participates in quality improvement activities.
- Actively participates in the growth and development of the Wellness Clinic within the community.
- Shares scheduled after hours telephone on-call responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of current nursing practice, clinical assessment
techniques and primary care decision making as a Family Nurse
Practitioner.
- Ability to assess clients with complex multi-system problems, including biophysical and psychosocial dimensions.
- Ability and willingness to assume a leadership role in the practice of the Wellness Clinic.
- Basic knowledge of visit coding and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain credentials with managed care plans, hospitals and third party payers, including Medicare and Washington Medicaid.
- Ability to carry out multiple responsibilities under time pressure.
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions independently and recognizes when to consult with a colleague of specialists.
- Ability to provide effective and compassionate care to clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Skilled in performance of routine ambulatory care procedures.
- Skilled in performance of basic laboratory procedures.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function as an effective team member in the organization and delivery of client care services.
Physical Requirements
- Requires frequent walking, sitting and standing.
- Requires hearing and visual acuity within normal limits.
- Requires speaking ability that can be readily understood by clients and other customers.
- Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- MSN/MN preparation as ARNP-Family Practice licensed to practice in the state of Washington without encumbrance.
- Current FNP credential with a recognized national certification organization.
- Current DEA (schedule II-V) registration.
- Interest and willingness to practice in an academic clinic setting
including provision of services consistent with a public helath mission.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.
