General Description
The Director of Auxiliary Services is a key member of the Finance and Operations leadership team. Develops the unit’s mission and vision, articulates short/long term planning, manages the departments and staff, and encourages collaboration among departments and PLU campus. Also participates as a PLU liaison in community redevelopment/outreach. Reports to the Vice President of Finance and Operations.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Oversees departments and services:
- LuteCard operations and card access.
- Campus scheduling (all non academic scheduling).
- University Center operations.
- Summer conference program and campus facility rental.
- University golf course.
- East Campus and other University real estate.
- Provides leadership for strategy, mission and vision within Auxiliary Services.
- Develops creative avenues for revenue development to support campus reinvestment.
- Manages the hiring, training and supervision of departmental staff and administrators.
- Actively represents PLU on the Board of Directors for the Frederickson, Parkland and Spanaway Chamber of Commerce Division and other community organizations as appropriate.
- Manages operations and rentals of many parcels of real estate.
- Conducts periodic manager’s meetings. Serves on university committees when invited.
- Demonstrates leadership in the department. Serves as mentor and leader for student employees.
- Develops and maintains effective orientation and evaluation process for Auxiliary Services employees.
- Develops annual budget for Auxiliary Services and monitors it to maximize net income.
- Promotes the conference program.
- Maximizes use of university facilities for PLU programs while
effectively generating revenue through outside programs. Reviews
contracts with vendors.
- Monitors and maintains compliance with campus or rental use of bond financed facilities.
- Monitors and complies with WA Department of Revenue limitations for use of tax exempt property.
- Develops annual initiatives with the collaboration of Auxiliary Services staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong Word and Excel skills. Familiarity with Project, Publisher, web and related technology tools.
- Attention to detail and excellent problem solving and time management skills.
- Ability to provide exemplary customer service constantly and consistently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Business, Communications or related field. Related graduate work will be considered.
- Six years progressive experience in a university setting managing campus operations.
- Two years experience working with budgeting and assessment, real estate and planning.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
