FT; Mon – Fri, 8:00am – 5:00pm (may vary); may include one Sat/month

General Description

Medical Receptionist in an ARNP managed, family practice community clinic. This position is an integral team member in the delivery of organized, personal and confidential health services to clients. Work closely with Advance Registered Nurse Practitioners, students and other clinic staff in serving clients. Reports to the Director of the Wellness Clinic.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Prepare exam room and patient for examination.
Vital signs and history intake.
Collection and processing of laboratory specimens.
Administer immunizations and other injections.
Telephone triage.
Assist with front office appointment scheduling, eligibility verification, medical records and fee collection.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience giving injections, calculating correct dosage and method
of administration.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform venipuncture and on-site laboratory testing.
Ability to obtain vital signs and patient history.
Ability to triage telephone calls and schedule appointments.
Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Work well as a team member.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and change positions frequently.
May require some bending and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
Must have adequate hearing and speech to communicate effectively on the telephone in English.

Required Qualifications

Current MA certification.
Two years job-related work experience as an MA in a health care setting. Education (other than MA cerification) may substitute for some experience.
Current CPR, tetanus and TB skin test; proof of Hepatitis B vaccine series.
High school diploma or GED.
Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

Training in medial records, medical billing.
Bilingual.
