General Description
Serve as a resource for students, parents and the PLU community. Support the VP in administration and operations for the University and Division of Student Life. Reports to the Vice President for Student Life.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Primary resource to students, parents, staff, and faculty when a student need is identified
o Counsel students on resources available and assist with utilization of resources.
o Respond appropriately to crisis situations involving students or the campus community.
o Facilitate response and identify resources for students of concern.
o Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and departments.
o Serve as contact person for students and/or families in medical emergency situations.
o Coordinate resources for students needing time away from campus.
o Process medical withdrawals for students. Administer student emergency small loan fund. - Student Life information management
o Administer First year Student Questionnaire and Student Satisfaction Inventory.
o Assemble materials for Student Financial Appeals Committee.
o Serves as primary contact for FERPA regulations.
o Collect and prepare Student Life Divisional reports to the Board of Regents.
o Prepare agenda for and minutes from weekly Student Life Council meetings. - Research, prepare, format and update forms, surveys, informational brochures and related materials for the department. Maintain department website.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, reports, and forms. Maintain confidential records and files.
- Represent the Vice President at committees and functions.
- Respond to inquiries and routine complaints in accordance with established policy/procedures.
- Serve as back-up for the Administrative Assistant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with sensitivity to the concerns and needs of diverse student population.
- Ability to handle and work with confidential information.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Punctual, dependable, and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Well developed organizational skills including: ability to prioritize tasks, a high level of attention to detail and capability to multitask.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of website design/maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Five years job-related work experience.
- Knowledge of student development in Higher Education.
- Previous experience working in a university setting.
- Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
