FT; Mon-Fri; 8am-5pm; may include some weekend and evening hours
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Coordinate new transfer student registration and collaborate with department and program chairs in the initial registration process.
- Register new transfer students, as appropriate.
- Ensure a smooth transition of new transfer students to an academic advisor in a department or school or serve as the continuing academic advisor, as appropriate.
- Work closely with department and program chairs to ensure initial correct placement in courses in the major for new transfer students.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Transfer Recruitment in the Office of Admission and professional advisors throughout the campus.
- Provide leadership on transfer student needs to promote academic success and retention.
- Administer Transfer Survey and respond, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with Student Involvement and Leadership on new transfer student orientation.
- Advise other students as needed.
- Teach two or more sections of PSYC 113 each year.
- Work collaboratively on shared Ramstad Commons projects ad initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills.
- Good understanding of a liberal arts education.
- General understanding of student development theory and practice.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree.
- Two-years
job-related experience in a higher education setting.
- Proficiency
in word processing, spreadsheet, database applications and website
software.
- Finalist
candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s
degree.
- Experience
in advising or other student service areas.
- Experience
working with transfer students.
- Experience
with Banner educational software.
