Rank and Salary

Visiting Assistant Professor, full-time, non-tenure track position; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This is a one-year replacement position.

Responsibilities

1.    Teach horn performance, literature and pedagogy at the undergraduate level.
2.    Teach in secondary area(s) in the classroom; options include pan-university courses (writing, inquiry seminar, introduction to music), and/or music core courses (theory, history, aural skills, world music).
3.    Perform in the resident faculty brass and woodwind quintets.
4.    Recruit students in horn specifically and brass in general.
5.    Maintain the high visibility of the horn program in the region and beyond.
6.    Other duties/teaching as assigned based on the appointee’s strengths and department’s needs.

Qualifications

•    Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred.
•    Demonstrated success as a teacher of horn.
•    Demonstrated achievement in, commitment to and continuing activity in horn performance.
•    Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach in secondary areas in a classroom setting.
•    Enthusiasm for and demonstrated ability in recruitment of students.
