- Professionalism. Students are expected to treat their internship with respect and professionalism. Each student represents our department and university to potential employers and future internship providers. Beyond an individual student's performance, opportunities for future internships are often judged on the performance of one or two people. Treat internships with respect.
- Seek internships off-campus. The purpose of the internship is to help prepare the student for a life in the professional world and outside his/her respective comfort zones.
- Earn the internship. While many students are sufficiently networked to secure an internship without applying or interviewing for it, the department is committed to the belief that the process of earning an internship is an important part of the internship. Therefore, preparing a resume, sending an application, interviewing for the position are all important and integral parts of the internship experience.
