My Definition of Nursing

Nursing is the process of assisting, guiding, and being with an individual in their journey to physical, emotional and spiritual health and healing, or peaceful dying. This is done with a positive attitude of respect, care, and love while involving the individual and loved ones. The relationship is not ended until the patient is empowered with knowledge to enhance and maintain own health.
Nursing includes health promotion, illness prevention and the care of ill, disabled, and dying people of all ages and in all settings.

One Year Goal

In May 2010, I plan and hope on completing my second year of this nursing program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. I also plan on focusing more on the actual material to be learned rather than incessantly worrying about quiz and exam grades.

Five Year Goal

In May 2014, I plan on working in a pediatric hospital. I am yet uncertain about my exact focus, however at this point I am considering either oncology or labor and delivery. If I will work in labor and delivery, I intend on returning to school and becoming certified as Nurse Midwife.
