I am a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Psychology. I decided to pursue nursing because I love working with people and hope to make a difference in peoples' lives through providing therapeutic care. During my four years at PLU, I was able to refine my nursing skills, grow academically, and develop strong relationships with my professors and peers. Through my work as a Nurse Technician at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, I identified that my greatest passion is working with children and their families. I also love traveling, and hope that one day I will have the opportunity to take my nursing abroad.
When I get a break from studying, I enjoy photography, reading, and volunteering with different groups on-campus and in the local area. While I am excited that graduation is fast approaching, I recognize that continued learning is an essential component of nursing, and plan to further my education later on down the road. Thank you for visiting my nursing portfolio!

Definition of Nursing
Nursing PhilosophyMy Nursing Philosophy The core of
nursing is caring and the focus of nursing is people.Nursing: Nursing is both an art and a science that relies on the use of theory and practice to promote, protect, and optimize health. Nursing is a profession that is rooted in service and therapeutic care. Nurses deliver health care across all environments and to all persons in a manner that is caring and focuses on lessen the effect of illness, promote comfort and healing, and assist patients whether it is an optimum state of health or a dignified death. An additional role of nursing is the responsibility to promote political change, social activism, and patient advocacy. Persons: Persons include individuals, families, and communities. All persons are entitled to equal, dignified, non-bias care. Health: Heath is a subjective term because all persons define health differently. My definition of health goes beyond the basic absence of disease to consider management of daily living, happiness, satisfaction, and overall quality of life. Balance must exist between the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of the person for optimum health to be achieved. Nursing Coat of Arms
My Nursing Coat of ArmsThis is my nursing coat of arms. It represents some of the most important qualities that define a nurse. 1. Lion and flexing arm: This represents the courage,
perseverance, and strength requires of nurses when faced
with difficulty. It is important for a nurse to remain resilient and remain on track
even when times get tough.2. Heart and nurse caring for client: This represents the need for a nurse to be empathetic and provide compassionate care for their client. It also represents a nurse putting their whole self into the care of others and not just completing things half-heartedly. 3. Globe: This represents the awareness that there are people in need in every community, big or small, wealthy or poor, locally or globally. Service, advocacy, and teamwork are key. 4. Thought cloud: This represents the important of critical thinking skills in order for a nurse to make the best decisions in any given situation. 5. Person reaching for the sky: This represents the importance of reaching out, going the extra mile, and constantly seeking personal growth. Continual learning obtained through initiative and experience will increase ones nursing capabilities and fulfillment. 6. Holding hands: This represents the belief that all people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and patience. Compassionate Care
