Hello All,
So, if you've
tuned into the station over the weekend, you've probably heard one of
two things: abroadcast of the softball or baseball game that day, or
white noise. An exciting thing is that we have mastered broadcsting
these things and recording them for future use, but the problem is that
we don't have enough people power to put in station ids, or breaks, or
anything of that nature. If you are interested in running a six
hour show like this, where you are in charge of putting the music in
and producing your own thing, please e-mail kccrgm@plu.edu with the
by-line Sports Engineer.
With that note,
we are working to archive all of our DJs shows' so they can come in and
do the show, and then have it recorded. I looked over at our
schedule, and noticed that our line-up right now (probably due to the
many, many false-starts we've had) is a little weak. So, with
that, e-mail us at kccrgm@plu.edu with the by-line Radio DJ and you
could probably wind up with a show where you play whatever the heck you
want! We train, we teach, we love, so come on down.
Music-wise - I
have been listening to a Warren Zevon live album called Stand in the
Fire I got when I went to Seattle to see the new George Romero Zombie
movie - Diary of the Dead. The album rocks in all of the ways Zevon is known too, even though he was sort of a jerk. I got his book I'll Sleep when I'm Dead
as a gift, and, even though it was fascinating, it made me think one of
my musical icons was sort of a hoser. Whatever happened to the
Rock Stars who were nice and loving and joined the PTA?
Have a great month, KCCR-heads, and we'll let you know when we are up to snuff.
Sincerely, Ryan Ceresola Co-General Manager

Hi Everybody out
there in KCCR Blogland. Listening to some Aussie rocking Ben Lee
right now, but I wanted to stop in and tell you all what is happening
this semester in KCCR:
We
are teaming up with the athletic office here at PLU and are in the
process of finding commentators for sports like softball and baseball
for spring semester. If anyone out there is interested in
becoming a play-by-play commentator or a color commentator (the person
who says things like "Whoa that was a good hit", and "Who that wasn't
really a good hit"), drop us a line at KCCR@plu.edu.
We
are coordinating with CMJ, a music database that we will tell what type
of music we are playing and that will send us similar artists (so to
all of you DJs out there, make sure you are writing down the artists
you play so CMJ will send us some similar artists to get into the
rotation).
Another Comedy show is on the horizon.
Lastly,
we are working with PYRAMIX software as a way to record DJs shows and
put them into rotation so they can be played a lot and can be recorded
for posterity. We will keep you updated on any other things of
note. Also, if you are over 21, go see EELS at the Showbox on
April 11th. I will be the one crying outside the venue, less than
a month away from my 21st birthday.
Very Professionally, Ryan Ceresola Resident Shut-in

Happy New Year,
y'all! Spring semester is coming and we're excited to have
everyone back. I'm just writing to let you all know how much
we've missed you. Seriously, Christmas day was like blah because
I couldn't get over how much I missed you. No, really... Anyway, I just
wanted to let you know that their is a new album out by a favorite band
of mine. Actually, Ryan is the one who's completely
obsessed. So back to the band, they like birds and they're called
the Eels. So check them out on their official website or listen to some of their tunes on myspace. I recommend the song "I like birds" because it's cool. Now go have a splendid time!
Later, Caitlin Promotions Director P.S.
I'm totally diggin' Feist right now. I like her older album, Let
It Die, better than her newer one, The Reminder, but it all rocks.

Greetings KCCR listeners. Our studio is coming along slowly but
surely. We have been broadcasting various shows for nearly a week
now. People have been able to hear us on Channel 28 or 10 on the
PLU campus. Our goal is have KCCR streaming online by the end of
the week so we can reach a much broader audience. We really
appreciate everyone's patience on this project. When the studio
is fully connected, students will be able to produce quality shows for
our awesome listeners. There will a phone connection so we will
be able to take live calls which is something we haven't had in several
years. It is definitely going to be a killer operation. In the
mean time, stay cool or warm and keep listening to KCCR.
Cordially,

We
are aware of some of the
frustrations that have been expressed due to our excruciating broadcast
delay. Believe you me, these frustrations are shared by the staff
here at KCCR as well (a lot of the setup is beyond our control).
If anything, we want to be up and running
just as much, if not, more than each of you. The good news is that we
have a temporary setup and you can listen on channel 28 on
campus! We're very excited about this. Our next step is to
get our DJs trained and comfortable with the new facilities and
equipment. We'll keep you posted.
Also, come to the comedy show this
Saturday @ 8pm. The tickets are $3 for students/military and $5
for general admission. Be there or be a box. For advance
tickets email: Anthony.clark-03@mcchord.af.mil

As
Ryan mentioned before we are slowly but surely working towards getting
the studio ready for broadcast. Despite this, the staff is still
really excited about the prospects of the coming year. We've been
planning two major events, and we want you to be involved, if not
attend. The first event will be a major comedy show that we are
planning to be in the CK. There will be anywhere from five to
seven comedians. Once we get things more concrete you should keep
a look out for advertising and whatnot. The second event we are
planning is a Halloween event that we are planning on hosting with
Pleuger. That, too, is in the planning stages so all of the
logistics are still getting worked out. So keep your eyes open
for that as well. Alright, friends, have a wonderful day.
Now, go do your homework.
Smiles, Caitlin Stoskopf

Alright everyone, I am back on the blogsphere with a little recount of two major music events this past month for me.
Firstly, I bought a double disc album by Warren
Zevon full of unreleased tracks. He is one of those artists
that I am terribly sad I won't get to see, because he died of
lung cancer. So don't smoke, kiddies. His album is great
though, and if you like gravelly voiced, rock piano, and if you were a
big fan of "Werewolves of London", definitely check out this new
release in 2007 or his greatest hits compilation Genius.
Secondly, I saw my favorite musical band play
at the Moore in Seattle earlier this month. A little band that
goes by the name of They Might Be Giants. It was my third time
seeing them, and arguably the best. They played a LOT of old
material I hadn't heard live before including "Mr. Me" which is in my
top ten list of songs of theirs. Two notes, walking up the street
from some Thai restaurant, I saw John Linell pass me walking the other
way, so I was very close to him for a split second. Also, Harvey
Danger opened up and they were really great.
As far as KCCR goes, the studio is not all the way
set up yet, though we are definitely trying our hardest to put it
together (we don't really know how to do the wiring and it is amazing
how little CD organizing you can do without shelves). We will let
you guys know as soon as we are up and running. It is coming
together slowly, but definitely looking amazing.
Make a little birdhouse in your soul, Ryan Ceresola

Howdy Y'all.
I just wanted to remind everybody about the interest
meetings happening today at 4 and 8, and I wanted to encourage you to come down
and just check out the office whenever you can.
We have painstakingly put up pictures of bands and artists and it really
gives the office a cool little "student radio" feel. Anyway, come down if you can and check out
the new digs!

Hey everyone! Looks like we're having a couple more DJ
interest meetings this week for those of you who missed the last one. We'll be
meeting down in the SIL meeting room at 4pm
and at 8pm on Thursday, September
20th. Signs will be posted on our office door pointing you in the right
direction. Unfortunately, rooms are not yet really numbered on the ground floor
of the UC, so it's kind of a pain on the logistics end of things. Hope to see
you there!
Peace & Love,
Caitlin Stoskopf

Welcome to our new website! This is the new blog area that
we've added to spice up the site. So check this page out to see what we have to
say about new albums, concerts or life in general.
And remember, kids, hugs not drugs.
