A Basic Toolkit for Web Page Construction


SAGE Account

You'll need a SAGE account (the same account you use for email) to publish your pages to the world wide web. For information on obtaining a SAGE account, call the Computer Center at (253) 535-7525 or use the Service Request Form.
Tools Needed for Ethernet Access to the Campus Network

If you have ethernet access via an RJ-45 ethernet jack (full ethernet connection) you will need...

  • A computer with an ethernet board or transceiver box
  • An RJ-45 cable to connect your ethernet board or transceiver to the wall jack
  • TCP/IP networking software installed on your computer

Peripherals

Workstations in the Library

The library has two workstations in the Reference area that have access to internet for graphic web browsing via Netscape. All computers in the Language Resource Center have Netscape.

A limited number of workstations provide web page production tools. These include:

Language Resource Center Presentation Macintosh #1
Hardware: HP ScanJet flatbed scanner, sound and video capture
Software: PhotoShop and PhotoDeluxe imaging software, OmniScan Lite optical character recognition (OCR) software, PowerPoint presentation software, Word word processor, and VideoShop movie software.

Media Production Macintosh #2
Hardware: LaCie flatbed scanner
Software: PhotoShop and PhotoDeluxe imaging software, PowerPoint presentation software, and Word word processor.
