JAPANESE CULTURE SERIES

This series provides a variety of experiences in developing an appreciation to various aspects of the Japanese culture. Along with the variety of  classes  there will be a bus trip to visit the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle.

Thursday, October 1--Bus to Seattle   - - Visit Wing Luke Museum

Lunch at House of Hong (no-host)

Tour of museum will be with a docent.

BUS FARE:  $30 per person   Limited to 36 people!

Bus will depart from PLU Parking lot next to Trinity Lutheran Church at

9:00 a.m. Be sure to use your Parking Pass to park in PLU lot.

Class Fee:  $20 including supplies for book binding

               (Class is limited to 25 students.)

Kathryn is a Tacoma artist who works in a wide range of media including

sumi-e painting, calligraphy, bookbinding, and beadwork

Arts of Peace/Arts of War: Martial Arts of Japan

Instructor: Wayne Brannon

Class Fee:  $10

Martial arts has impacted and influenced the Japanese culture and they have become a practice and a popularity worldwide. This art dates back to the Feudal beginning and has evolved into the formation of various styles and schools. Wayne Brannon is the founder of Northwest Defensive Arts and has spent four decades practicing Japanese, Korean, and Filipino arts.
