Douglas
John Hall is Emeritus Professor of Christian Theology, McGill
University, Montreal, where he served on the faculty from 1975-1995.
Prior to his distinguished career at McGill, Professor Hall served as
Principal of St. Paul’s United College at the University of Waterloo in
Southern Ontario and then was appointed as a Professor of Systematic
Theology at St. Andrew’s Seminary located at the University of
Saskatchewan. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University
of Western Ontario and then earned three graduate degrees from Union
Theological Seminary in New York City.
Douglas John Hall is a popular conference speaker and author of
numerous books and articles including Why Christian? In June 2002, he
was presented with the Joseph Sittler Award for Theological Leadership
by Trinity Lutheran Seminary (Columbus, Ohio). Hall’s primary interests
as a theologian have been developing a theology indigenous to the
history AND experience of the culture of North America, in an attempt
to investigate what Martin Luther called the “theologia crucis” for its
relevance to our time and place in the realities of the post-Modern,
post-Christendom world.
