About Dr. Peter Singer

PSingerPeter Singer is the Ira DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University and laureate professor at the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics. He specializes in practical ethics. Singer will discuss the ethical implications of global poverty. His most famous early work, "Animal Liberation," is credited with philosophically launching much of the animal rights movement.

Among his many accessible publications are two renowned pieces in the New York Times Magazine that address everyday charity of citizens of affluent countries: "The Singer Solution to World Poverty" and "What Should a Billionaire Give --- and What Should You?". Singer's work also addresses world hunger, biomedical ethics and the biological origins of morality.
