2009 Academic Festival

The purpose of the Natural Sciences Academic Festival is to provide students with an opportunity to present, through poster or talk format, research projects and senior seminar work pursued during the academic year. The festival format is modeled after a professional meeting in order to provide the students with a conference experience.


Spring Commencement 2009

For centuries, in academic and ecclesiastical processionals, a mace has been carried by the marshal to symbolize the official opening and closing of a formal event.
At the base of the walnut staff is a silver pine cone, made from a casting of a cone found on the PLU campus. Its head has a descending dove, representative of the harmonious presence of the Holy Spirit within the learning community.

"Nellie" Celebration of Life

Nellie, an inspiration to two decades of Pacific Lutheran football players, coaches and fans, was 44 at the time of his death. He had served in recent years as a PLU football volunteer assistant coach, taking an active role in the program's administrative duties.

2009 Fall Convocation

Opening ceremony for the 2009-2010 academic year. Students, faculty, and staff celebrate the opening of the academic year and welcome the incoming class.

2009 KPLU Christmas Jam

Award-winning jazz vocalist (and Roosevelt High School graduate) Sara Gazarek was this year's special guest. She performed Christmas selections with the Pacific Lutheran University Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. David Deacon-Joyner. Ms. Gazarek was joined by jazz pianist/composer Dawn Clement, a faculty member at Cornish College of the Arts. The event was hosted by KPLU’s Nick Morrison.

KPLU will present a rebroadcast of the concert at noon on Christmas Day.
