Boy Scouts of America

Here you will learn about the BSA and specifically the program designed for Troop 711

The BSA is an internationally recognized recreational program designed for teaching boys, ages 12-17, the importance of leadership and being a moral citizen. The organization teaches scouts (boys) the lessons of leadership and citizenship through outdoor activities. These activities give healthy challenges that create physical, mental and spiritual growth. To help the scouts in their challenges the scouts are encouraged to use the Scout Oath and Law as a guide.

Troop 711 and the Program Plan

The troop is located in Maple Valley Washington, this troop provides a safe haven for 60 young scouts. The volunteers of this troop do their best in training and educating the young men in the ways of scouting. I have put together a summer camping program that will help the troop leaders
The program will consist of troop will go on a week long adventure trip to the camping grounds of Camp Parsons. This is a well established facility that provides many tools and equipment for the scouts to be challenged and show their scout spirit. Located on the Hood Canal it can facilitate many waterfront activities such a canoeing, motorboat and sailing. Thanks to the surrounding forests and mountains the scouts are able to enjoy the adventure activities of hiking, rock climbing and camping.
The experience of the camp will bring new motivation and enthusiasm to any scout. This camp will bring a boost of spirit to the Troop and help with its growth.

Goals for Troop 711

I am currently an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 711 but am inactive because of my college career. After college I plan to be re-activating my leadership role and become a member of the troop once again. I want to use my degree of recreation to help plan programs and activities for the troop. The troop over the years has been loosing members and not had the growth it once had. I want to replenish and great positive growth for the troop.
