Resources for Students
The Morken Math Center
The Morken Math Center is located in Room 233 in the Morken Center for
Learning and Technology. Many folks congregate there
during the day to work on homework, browse through books or journals, use the computers, or just chat. The room is staffed by trained
consultants in the evenings, who provide free tutoring from 7-10
pm,
Sun-Thurs.
Need help with algebra review?
You're not alone! Here's a site
devoted entirely to that! Especially helpful might be their topics
list.
Guidelines for Written Work
Faculty
members in the department of Mathematics have developed these guidelines
to help students currently enrolled at PLU to write mathematics
more clearly and precisely. The guidelines are based on material
in a number of sources; including, "Learning Mathematics Through
Writing, Some Guidelines" by J. J. Price, The College Mathematics
Journal 20 (1989) 5, "Writing Mathematics Well" by L. Gillman, Mathematical Association
of America, Washington, D.C., 1988, and "The Elements of
Style", third edition, by W. Strunk and E. B. White, MacMillan,
New York, 1979.
The guidelines are accessible only to current PLU
students/staff/faculty. When you try to log on you will
be asked for a User Name (your PLU e-mail address) and Password
(the password for your PLU account). You may have to go into Sage
and change your account password the first time you try and log
into the Writing Guidelines page.
Divisional Grade Dispute Policy
In addition to the University's Grievance Procedure, the Division of Natural
Sciences has its own Grade Dispute policy. Please consult this
policy if you feel that you have a grade dispute situation.
