Duplication Policy
Multimedia Services -- Pacific Lutheran University
1) Copies may be duplicated in current available formats and purchased under the following circumstances:
A) PLU students and faculty members may order a review copy of their own performance recorded by Multimedia Services.
B) In some cases private parties, may order copies of concerts, lectures, etc., under one or more of the following conditions:
Permission to make a review copy has been granted, in writing, from the artist/speaker, director,
composer, department owning the rights to the master, or the owner of the copyright. Copies
are for private, educational, use of the person ordering. (See "Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions" below)
C) Commercially available sound or video recordings, regardless of format, cannot be duplicated. (See "Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions")
2) In most cases, due to copyright restrictions, a limit of one copy per item per request will be maintained. When multiple copies are required, and copyright is determined not to be a limiting factor, authorization may be given for production of more than one copy of an item.
3) Allow one week minimum for the completion of a request.
4) All orders are to be claimed at Multimedia Services in the library. Payment must be made in full by cash, check, or department account number before an order can be released.
5) Due to format compatibility issues, copies cannot be duplicated on customer provided media. All media will be supplied by Multimedia Services.
6) Multimedia Services is not responsible for damages to customer supplied masters. Protection masters are recommended and can be made for a nominal fee. A minimum fee will be charged for materials required to complete a copy; additional fees will be charged when editing or other custom services are required. The total cost may not be determined until the work is completed. Complex jobs should be discussed ahead of time with the technician.
7) Multimedia Services reserves the right to refuse any duplication request if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order may be in violation of copyright law.
