April 11, 2005: Nursing Students present Wang Grant Projects
Two current BSN students who were recipients of Wang Grants in 2004-05
are presenting projects on their experiences at a presentation and
award ceremony on April 11, 2005 from 4-6pm in Chris Knutzen Hall (in
the UC):
Karen Morris (Senior I) travelled to India and will present "Healthcare Disparities Around the World" at 4:10pm.
Chenda Minn (Senior II) will present "Cambodia: 30 Years after the Killing Fields" at 4:50pm.
All
are invited to hear these and other students who won awards last year
and for the announcement of the 2005-06 Wang Grant Award winners (click here for more information).
March 23, 2005: PLU Graduate Nursing Alumna Receives National Leadership Award
"Jennifer Gleason (PLU BSN 1999), a registered nurse and
clinical manager of critical care at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood,
has been chosen to receive the 2005 Circle of Excellence Award by the

March 11, 2005: PLU Nursing Student Receives Community Life Safety Award

October 2004: BSN Graduates Present Community Health Nursing Project at National Conference
Nursing graduates Nancy McDermott- Halverson '04 and Lindsey
Brady (Wildfang '04) presented their senior nursing project at the National Conference on Health Care and Domestic Violence
in late October 2004. Their project focused on community health nursing and
was completed in collaboration with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health
Department. Assessing local clergy knowledge and experience related to
domestic violence, their results led to the implementation of training
for clergy by Faith Partners for Domestic Violence. McDermott-Halverson
is now a medical/surgical nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. Brady
works in Post-Partum and Newborn Nursery at Pullman Memorial Hospital
in Pullman, Wash. (PLU Campus Voice, October 2004).
