The Office Of Institutional Research

    As part of the Office of the Provost, the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is the comprehensive source for information about Pacific Lutheran University.  OIR provides the University community with data and information to evaluate progress regarding governing and regulatory concerns, measurements of quality, allocation of resources, productivity, cognitive outcomes, accomplishment of the University's mission, and satisfaction with the university.  The Office also coordinates reporting to external constituents, such as IPEDS, ELCA, CUPA, and AAUP.

What is Institutional Research?

Four basic activities describe institutional research: 1. Collecting data about the environment of the institution
2. Collecting data about the performance of the institution
3. Analyzing and interpreting the collected data
4. Transforming the data analyses and data interpretations into information that can be used to support institutional planning, policy and decision making.
