Coat of Arms

                     The Heart Of A Nurse

             Nurses are compassionate and caring,
With love in their hearts for all.
Forever extending a heart of mercy,
Always there when there is call.
Endless hours they stand on their feet,
Wondering did I do my best
To help this patient get through this illness,
Ease their pain so they can rest.
In their hearts you hear God's whisper
Through a nurse he sends his love.
              Ever sensitive, kind and caring,
Souls as pure as a snow white dove.
Angel yes, she tends to be,
            For her presence comforts me.
Concern for the sick shows on her face,
Her gentle touch, my fears erase.

Welcome to my Nursing Portfolio for Pacific Lutheran University. Above is my Nursing Coat of Arms. This coat of arms signifies the areas I feel are very important to being a nurse:

    1)  In order to provide the very best care for patients, education is essential

    2) Compassion is needed to understand the needs of the inner person

    3) Teamwork provides the best frame work to care for people in their time of greatest need

    4) Hope is important to look to the future

Also above is a poem I found about nursing, which I will base my practice off. From it, I have based my nursing philosophy of: To be a nurse is to be full of care and compassion.
