Last Essay, Due Thursday, December 13, no later than 3:00 p.m. Please submit the essay electronically. You will receive a return email which verifies its safe receipt.

Please answer any one (1) of the questions below. Limit your answer to four double spaced typed pages, defined as 1200 words. Severe penalties apply for going over the limit. Remember that exams are opportunities to display your mastery of course material.

1. We have considered, at different times, whether the war in Iraq is legal under international law, a just war, and good policy. Describe the criteria by which a reasonable citizen of the United States should judge the wisdom of undertaking this war, and show how course evidence should lead that citizen to a conclusion.

2. The US policy agenda concerning the war in Iraq has shifted significantly a number of times. Describe and explain the three or four major shifts you believe are most significant. You may choose any shifts between 9/11/01 and today.

3. How has the war in Iraq affected politics in the United States? Your answer should account for the most important changes in the branch of government of your choice (executive, legislative, judicial), and may range beyond that if you need to.
