Synneva

Synneva is a hardcore skier born deep inside the ice sheets of Antarctica and/or Norway.  Former Miss Norway and currently starring in a documentary entitled Wild Women of the North, she takes the hot cake.  She can clean a full grown adult salmon and eat it in under 10 seconds and manages a salmon/polar bear/seal canning factory deep in the Alaskan tundra.  She is actually really BA and you should probably get to know her.

Johannah

Hail Johanna Stangland, our fearless director.  A born and raised country girl from Tonasket,Washington, Johanna brings fun, creativity and direction to the program.  Her main outdoor pursuits include killer kayaking, hot hiking, styling skiing and ruthless rock climbing.  Her favorite book is Summer of the Monkeys.  She will be abroad Spring 2009 in Tanzania, but her charm, good looks and awesomeness will be sorely missed.

Brauser

The pictures says it all...  But if you must know more, he's a stunning 6'2'' blonde haired/blue eyed babe from the frozen land of Alaska.  Raised by a pack of seals, Eric swam down the coast to make it to PLU for his freshman year...and held his breath the whole way.  He enjoys long walks on the beach, searching for shells and sipping on ice tea.  He's a Renaissance Man with further interests in knitting, long leisurely bike rides, the occasional light hike and when he gets a wild urge, he dabbles with some easy climbs.  It would be a treat for any Lute to find themselves in the presence of Brauser on one of OR's infamous outdoor excursions.

Alayna 2

Alayna Linde, Swahili for "Yams," grew up in the Land of 22,336 Lakes where she studied tai chi and calligraphy.  In 2006 she abandoned those pursuits to devote herself to chemistry.  She can be found studying at her home in one of the Rieke open lab lockers.  An avid outdoor enthusiast, her devotion to nature is matched only by her passions for lawn bowling and fine wines.  Alayna is most fond of her pet tasmanian devil Dozer who accompanies her on all of her OR trips.

Bryan hails from Port Orchard, Washington, and it has never been the same since he left.  In addition to the most spectroscopy readings ever taken in Rieke, he is also in the record books for his trek down the entire Washington coast. When he finished, he was informed by some park rangers that while he completed the hike faster than anybody else in history, he also had the best looking deltoids of anyone in the last 27 years (previous records were destroyed in a tragic oatmeal accident). Bryan's hair looks best after rolling out of his tent and cooking a few pancakes.

Andy

Andy Guinn was born in the wilds of Colorado.  Among his many accomplishments, Guinn has biked 1,706 miles cross-country to Colorado, achieved a high degree of attractiveness and traveled to Tanzania where he studied literature and yoga under Buddhist monks.  Guinn spends his time leading Lutes on grand adventures all over the Pacific NW.  During his free time he enjoys discussing politics with the Dalai Lama over avocado juice and persimmons.

Heidi

Heidi comes from somewhere in Oregon and is an avid U of O fan.  She enjoys taking Lutes out on well organized trips and her favorite outdoor activity is squirrel watching.  Most people don't know that she is a witch (a good one).  Hence, she will melt if she comes into contact with water.  That's why she levitates herself above the ground (see above).

Heidi Herriott

Fisch

Matt originates from the outskirts of some town in eastern Montana.  He grew up racing for the local swim team, steer wrestling in hometown rodeos and competing in winter ice fishing contests (thus, the last name).  He came to the NW by way of wagon train three years ago and was found living in a snow village on Mt. Rainier.  The OR crew kidnapped him and uses him for his rental gear expertise.  He's also an expert grower of pineapples and kiwi.

Matt Fischer

matty

Matt Shmitz is the Shmitz minus the m. Matty is from uptown New York (Montucky) and likes to ride his segway around PLU's campus. The youngest of the guides, little Shmitz, tries to set himself apart with his long hair (not pictured), nonchalant attitude (pictured) and hot pink cell phone. Matt's favorite outdoor activity is whichever one he is doing right now. On weekends you can find Matt playing WOW.

Matt Shmitz

mycah

A native of Boise, Idaho, Mycah thoroughly enjoys baked goods such as apple pie on his Outdoor Rec hikes.  Mycah fancies soccer, chemistry, wool socks and of course the great outdoors.  Able to do a Rubik's cube in 60 seconds flat, Mycah is no slouch in the classroom either.  He prefers peaches over mangos and HD television over cleaning his housemates' messes.

Mycah Uehling

Terra

Terra is from Eagle Creek, Oregon.  She is an excellent rock climber and smiles all the time (as seen above).  She studies Communication and how to make the best hot chocolate.  Terra is a resident assistant in Foss and is not a trash pile, Eric!  She has true character and is probably the nicest gal you will ever meet.

Terra Vandewiele

Stephen

Joining our ranks all the way from OOOOOklahoma, Stephen brings a taste for adventure and a thirst for whole milk.  With his curly hair and amazing ability to recite lines from Newsies, Stephen feels at home from the top of the tallest mountain to the bottom of the deepest swimming pool.  Don't let his fancy soccer footwork threaten you - he is a gentle bear of a man who doesn't take "pass the salt" for an answer.
