First-Year Student Retreat at Camp Berachah in Auburn, WA. We hope you'll encourage your first-year student to register!
This PLU tradition is a unique opportunity for first-year students to connect with faculty, staff, and returning students in an off-campus retreat setting. The retreat offers time to enjoy s’mores around the campfire, have conversations that matter, and begin to EXPLORE what we are called to do with our "one wild and precious life." Through small group conversations, the EXPLORE! facilitators help students identify those big questions in their lives while also sharing about their own journey.
As a part of the
Wild Hope Project, the EXPLORE! retreat is designed to improve the quality of student reflection on the notion of vocation. At PLU, vocation—finding one’s meaning and purpose— helps students to become the mature, thoughtful, contextually aware, committed, creative leaders the world needs. Reflection on vocation includes finding one’s own passion and considering the broader questions of meaning and purpose when making educational and life choices. When students leave the retreat, they have learned new ways to continue their vocational journey by taking advantage of programs and resources on campus that align with their interests.
The retreat is free and all transportation and lodging is provided! However, spots are limited. Visit the EXPLORE!
