     Lutes Across the Globe

Global education is becoming more critical than ever to a student’s education and is a component which is strongly emphasized here at PLU. With more than 40% of the student body participating in study away programs, the Wang Center for International Programs plays a prominent role in the lives and global academic pursuits of many members of the PLU student body. The Wang Center offers opportunities for semester and year-long study away, J-term and summer study away, international internships, and Wang Center research grants.

The J-term offerings for January 2009 will be released this January, which is always highly anticipated! This January, 27 J-term programs with a total of 400 students will traverse the globe on seven continents. Programs cover a variety of locations with a wide range of academic course credits offered.

For the 3rd consecutive year, the Wang Center will continue the tradition of the J-term Blog, which will highlight eight of the programs offered this January. The programs participating in the blog include Antarctica, Brazil, Dubai, Martinique, Neah Bay, New Zealand, Scotland, and Tanzania. The site can be found at https://sojourner.plu.edu/ and will include written reflections from both students and faculty on their experiences along with photos and videos taken during the programs.

Kate Geldaker, a Sojourner Advocate, will be writing to Parent eNews from Dubai, so check your February eNews to read about her experience studying Peace Journalism abroad!!
