The Rune Stones, designed by Tom Torrens, stand in Centennial Square. On September 8th, 1976, the Rune Stones were dedicated to commemorate the King of Norway, King Olav V's, visit and the beginning of Norwegian emigration to the United States. The design and placement of the Runes recreates the design on the medal Torrens made for King Olav V.
