It is with heavy hearts that we deliver the news of the death of two PLU students, Brady Freeman and Jocelyn Denham. Early Saturday morning President Anderson notified the PLU campus community of the terrible news,
“On Friday evening while traveling through Eastern Washington, PLU student Jocelyn Denham and Brady Freeman, were killed in an automobile accident near Brewster, Washington. Brady’s twin brother, Boone, a student at the University of Puget Sound, was critically injured in the crash.
Members of the campus community gathered late Friday in Olson Auditorium to remember their friends and to offer one another mutual support in this time of grief. There was also a pause for remembrance and reflection during the campus Relay for Life event that was held on campus overnight Friday into Saturday morning.”
At the conclusion of Relay for Life, Saturday at 11am, the community gathered to remember Jocelyn and Brady and pray for the recovery of Boone. Dr. Anderson, Dr. Laura Majovski (Vice President for Student Life) and Campus Pastor Dennis Sepper all spoke and ASPLU Vice President Tamara Power-Drutis touched hearts singing “Amazing Grace.” Remembrance continued that evening at a student gathering in The Cave at 9pm hosted by ASPLU and RHA and again Sunday night at 9pm with a candlelight prayer vigil outside of Olson Auditorium. This morning the campus gathered for a chapel service in memorial of Jocelyn and Brady.
