End of Semester Opening and Closing Dates & Winter Break Housing

Winter Break
Friday, December 18th - Sunday, January 3rd

All halls, but South Hall, will close at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 18th and re-open at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 3rd. Residents will not be allowed into the halls during this time.

Students needing to stay on campus during Winter Break can do so, but will be required to move to the designated Winter Break Hall(s). Winter Break Housing is available at $15.00 per day. Prior sign-up is required by 5:00pm Monday, December 7th, 2009. Applications and additional information is available online. Students working on campus over the break must sign-up for winter housing.

J-Term / Spring Housing Options

Apply for On-Campus Housing - Living on campus is much more than a roof over your head; it is a lifestyle; it is being part of a community and an integral part of your university experience. Students can apply for J-term and Spring on-campus housing in the Office of Residential Life – University Center 161. For a complete list of on-campus advantages go to: On-Campus vs. Off-Campus.

Housing Options – Space is currently available in each of the traditional residence halls, both Learning Communities, and both upper-class halls. More information about the Learning Communities, Hong International Hall, the Social Action and Leadership (SAL) Floor, and the upper-classmen housing, South and Kreidler Halls, is available on the Residential Life website.


Canceling Housing – Housing Contracts are signed for the full academic year. Students not requiring housing for the Spring or J-term semester (see reasons below) must cancel their housing on-line at: Canceling an Application.

1) Graduating

2) Studying Away

3) Not living on campus during J-term

4) Withdrawing from PLU

5) Moving off-campus and continuing at PLU (see University's Residency Requirement)

Additional information about canceling an application, including the required move out dates are available online at Canceling an Application. Cancellation applications are due before December 1st. Cancellations received between December 1st and January 1st will receive a $200 Contact Cancellation Penalty. Cancellations received after January 1st will receive a $400 penalty.
