Welcome to PLU! As parents of a new PLU student, you are now part of our university community. You will play an important part in helping us provide the challenge and support that every student needs to succeed. That support is particularly important in the first few weeks as students make the adjustment to life in college.
By now, many new students have registered for classes and have taken care of some of the administrative tasks necessary to begin the academic year. If your student has not had that opportunity and needs assistance, please encourage him or her to call the First Year Student Registration phone line at 253-535-7585 or 866-203-5288.
Included in this newsletter, you will find a checklist that your PLU student will use as a guide to the registration process and other steps necessary for a successful start to life at PLU. We hope you will use it as a resource to help encourage and support your student in his or her collegiate experience. Also included is an information sheet from the Student Services Center that you may find helpful in understanding your pre-billing statement.
An additional new parent resource is our summer edition of Parent eNews, an electronic communication. We are looking forward to having you with us on campus for the first days of Fall Orientation (September 4-5). Watch your mail or visit online for
program details and registration information. As the parents of a college freshman three years ago, MaryAnn and I learned firsthand just how important it is for college-bound students to have family be a part of this important transition.
The PLU campus is gearing up for your arrival. I look forward to meeting each of you during the Fall Orientation festivities and encourage you to mark your calendars now to return again on October 31-November 2 for Family Weekend.
Sincerely,

Loren J. Anderson
