Student Voice
Can you imagine asking complete strangers, your friends’ parents, or even your own parents to give gifts to PLU each night? The Tel-A-Lute job is a difficult one but our work serves every student on campus.
At first glance our job is to raise money for fellow students. But the position is so much more; we are the voice for more than 3,600 of our fellow Lutes. We share stories about campus, make sure that people know of upcoming events, and we tell alumni, parents, and friends exactly why it is important to support PLU students.
People wonder how their gift of $100 can make a difference. It may sound a little cliché, but every gift is important. Gifts to Q Club go to support every aspect of a PLU education while offsetting the cost of tuition. Without support from alumni, parents, and friends of PLU, students and family would have to pay nearly 25% more to attend school.
The Tel-A-Lute team works hard almost every night to make sure that PLU can offer scholarships, study away opportunities, sports, and student leadership opportunities. All of this is made possible because of support to Q Club.
I remember my first time calling my parents and asking them if they wanted to give to support student scholarships. At the time they had two students at PLU and were in the process of transitioning their own careers. Parent loans, money for books, and paying for food and housing were my parent’s first concerns. After realizing that the gifts of others helped to support our education, my parents decided to support PLU through gifts to
Q Club. They wanted to maintain a tradition of parent support of quality education.
