PPA in the News

The PPA program featured prominently in an article entitled "The Horizon of a New Discipline: Inventing Book Studies" by historian Jonathan Rose, and published in the Spring 2003 issue of Publishing Research Quarterly. Rose suggests that:

the Pacific Lutheran University program proves that Book Studies can be a very cost-efficient method of teaching all aspects of print culture.  For that reason, it may be an ideal academic model for the Second World--that is, post-colonial, post-apartheid, and post-Communist societies which are more developed than the impoverished Third World but less developed than the rich nations of the West, societies that must train (cheaply and thoroughly) a new class of information professionals. The PPA program also featured in the Winter 2003 issue of PLU's Scene magazine. To read the article, click here.
