Scheduling Your Program of Study

What courses should I take and when?
We have developed a Major Milestones handout for your use. This sheet explains expected outcomes as well as the recommended course sequences for Bachelor of Arts as well as Bachelor of Science students on the first 8 1/2 x 14 inch page. Transfer students should see the second page of the handout.

The typical student entering PLU as a freshman may take several courses in psychology before deciding whether or not to major in psychology or which major is best. Although every student is unique, check out the schedules for typical or recommended course sequences for the Bachelor of Science and the Bachelor of Arts psychology degrees. Please note that students should complete Psychology 101 and at least one elective before enrolling in the psychology section of STAT 232.

A typical course sequence for transfer students will depend upon whether or not the student is completing the B.A. or the B.Sc. major. Transfer students entering PLU with an Associate of Arts degree who wish to complete the B. Sc. program should enroll in the Statistics--Psychology section during their first term at PLU in order to successfully complete our program in a timely manner.

How do I know when courses are being offered?
Although there may be changes at any time, our schedule 2008-2009 academic term is available on this website. (Click on the date to access the schedule in which you are interested.) Times at which the courses are offered within the week may differ depending upon the faculty member teaching the courses.

What Capstone Experience is required?
The answer to this question depends upon when you declare your psychology major. Further details on the capstone are available from any member of the department.

Contact any faculty member or the chair of our department, Prof. Wendelyn Shore, if you have any questions.
