Reflection
Career goals are important to any ones career path. These goals set a guidline of what kind of
job you will be doing and how far you want to go in life. For me my most important career goal is to be
doing something that will ultimately help others or make society a better
place. I would like to go into the field
of medical research, but I would even sacrifice this dream if I felt I could be
of better use in a different field. My
second career goal is to hold a position that fulfills my first goal, but ultimately
makes enough money for me to pay my debts, support my family, and live
comfortably. However, I would sacrifice
money for a good night’s rest with a clean conscious any day. My last career goal is to make it a respectable
position in the hierarchy of a corporation eventually. I plan on starting at the midlevel position
in a company, but later down the road it is my goal to hold an executive
position or at least a senior member with some authority.
With these goals in mind PLU serves as a perfect place
for me to start developing and practicing these goals. By taking volunteered based research based
positions through the Biology department and taking some ethics courses I hope
to help further my ability to succeed in my first goal. By getting my bachelor and eventually master’s
degree my second goal will be fulfilled by my employer paying more to have me
as an employee. PLU will be able to help
me my third goal by serving as playing field for me to perfect my skills such
as leadership, communication, critical thinking, and expertise of my area of
study.
