The College of Arts & Sciences is a requirement made up of three options. Different degrees require different options and some degrees do not require the College of Arts & Sciences at all. Unless otherwise noted, any of the three options may be used to satisfy the requirement.
The following degrees require the College of Arts & Sciences:
Note: The B.A. in English, B.A. in Education with a secondary teaching major in English, B.A. in Global Studies, B.B.A. in International Business, and election to the Arete Society require Option I.
Option I (Any one of the following completes the requirement)
Successful completion of any foreign language through the second year of college study (usually 201-202).
Four years of high school study of a single language with at least a C average
Satisfactory scores on a proficiency exam administered by the PLU Department of Languages and Literatures
Option II (Any one of the following completes the requirement)
Successful completion of a foreign language (other than that used to satisfy your Entrance Requirement) through the first year of college study (usually 101-102).
Satisfactory scores on a proficiency exam administered by the PLU Department of Languages and Literatures
Option III (Both parts 1 and 2 are required to complete Option III)
Part 1: 4 semester hours of History, Literature, or Language (201 or higher of your Entrance Language, or any other foreign language at the college level). This must be a course or courses not previously applied to other GURs.
Part 2: 4 semester hours of Logic, Math, Computer Science, or Statistics. This must be a course or courses not previously applied to other GURs.
