Basic Digital Phone Features

Placing a Call


Calls can be placed from either the key labeled “line” key or  “hold” key.  If a specific key is not chosen, the call will automatically be placed from the “line” key when a number is dialed or the handset is lifted.
On campus calls:  Dial the four-digit extension.
Off campus local calls:  Dial “9” and then the number you are calling.

Volume Adjustments (for most phones)


·    A sliding switch is located on the front of the phone to adjust the volume of the caller.
·    A sliding switch is located on the right side of the phone for ring volume adjustment.

Do Not Disturb


To activate, lift handset, dial ”*2#”, hang up, To deactivate dial “#2#”, hang up.  This feature will divert all your calls directly into voice mail and your phone will not ring.  You will still be able to place calls when this feature is activated.  You will hear a “DO NOT DISTURB” pulsating tone when you pick up the handset to remind you this feature is activated.

Automatic Message Waiting


When blinking, the red light next to the “Message” key alerts you that you have new messages.  Messages can be retrieved by pressing the key, which automatically dials voice mail (x5000).  You will be prompted for your password.

*21# goes to voicemail after 4 rings
#21# removes previous setting
*22# goes to voicemail when phone is busy
#22# removes previous setting
