Nursing Process

Program Outcome

Apply the nursing process in the provision of
direct and indirect care of individuals, families,
and communities in a variety of settings and
   across diverse populations

This semester has been challenging and exciting.  During our Health Promotion and Assessment class we have been learning how to apply the nursing process and devised a plan according to Erik Erickson's developmental stages and its usefulness with a prospective client (for my plan click here).  My plan focused on the effects of stress and obesity in the young adult.  My plan outlined how I would go about creating the same type of tool with a prospective client based on their needs and expectations and what I could do as a nurse to help encourage their success.

My class was also privileged to be the first class at PLU to take part in a pilot program with MultiCare's heart failure patient program.  Although, my patient declined to be involved, I was able to go with another classmate and take part in assessing her patient.  The experience was wonderful and I am looking forward to be assigned a new patient next spring.

I know the assessment skills I am learning in lab will mature and I am more than confident that I possess the leadership skills to take on this responsibility without apprehension.
