Welcome to my Portfolio!

Background

My name is Leopoldo Rivas Jr. Everyone calls me Leo. I am currently enrolled in the School of Nursing at Pacific Lutheran University. Before starting nursing school at PLU, I served in the United States Army. I was an operating room technician and a soldier.

As a soldier and operating room technician I was responsible for the welfare and health of my fellow battle buddies and also my patients in the operating room. I believe the attributes of caring and being compassionate came from my experiences in the military.

I grew up in a loving and caring family. I have two awesome parents and two bright younger siblings. My parents worked hard to provide for me all that I needed in life and I hope to do the same for my children in the future.

When I am not studying for class or in clinicals,  I am working out. I love to spend time with my girlfriend and friends. I also participate in Reserve Officer Training Corps on a green to gold scholarship. When I graduate from nursing school, I plan to be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp. I want to help the soldiers who are fighting for our freedom as well as their families.

Short-term goals

Earn my BSN from PLU. Commission into the US Army. Focus on learning as much as I can so I can be the best nurse I can be as a beginner.

Long-term goals

I want to become an expert nurse and earn the rank of Colonel. I would also like to get married and have four to five kids. I would also like to teach when I retire from the military.
